Four extra Metro-North trains added for U.S. women's World Cup parade in NYC
NEW HAVEN, CT (WFSB) -Extra trains are being offered into New York City for the parade honoring the World Cup champion U.S. women’s soccer team.
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority said Metro-North is providing four more trains to its daily schedule.
Two inbound trains and two outbound trains were added to the New Haven and Hudson lines.
Two New York City-bound trains will arrive at Grand Central Terminal between 9:45 a.m. and 10:03 a.m., and two trains will depart Grand Central between 3:29 p.m. and 3:45 p.m.
Before the parade, one extra train will depart from New Haven at 8:10 a.m. and make local stops through Fairfield.
After the parade, it will stop at Westport, Fairfield and all stations to New Haven, where it will arrive around 5:19 p.m.
From the terminal, passengers can board the downtown 456 subway to Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall to get to the parade.
The parade itself is happening at the Canyon of Heroes at 11 a.m. It kicks off at the Alexander Hamilton U.S. Custom House, near Broadway and Battery Pl. It then travels north on Broadway to Worth Street, then to Lafayette Street and finishes up with ceremonies at City Hall around 1 p.m.
