VIDEO:Beasts of No Nation trailer - from the director of True Detective

Netflix makes its first foray into dramatic feature-film releasing with Beasts of No Nation, coming to the streaming platform in October 2015.

Based on the book by Nigerian author Azodinma Iweala, it's the story of a young child called Agu who is taken from his family anf forced to become a soldier. Trapped in a civil war and destined for a life of cruelty, he is taken in my a warlord known as the Commandant.

The first teaser trailer for the film is here. It's pretty intense stuff.

Idris Elba stars at Commandant with young Abraham Attah as Agu, while Cary Fukunaga directs from his own script, adapted from Iweala's 2005 novel. Netflix will premiere the show on their streaming service and it will also be in cinemas in a limited run at the same time - presumably to help it qualify for potential awards. Fukunaga recently had succes as the director of the entire first season of the acclaimed HBO show True Detective.

Beasts of No Nation comes to Netflix on the 16th of October 2015
