Anthony Horowitz Talks About Idris Elba: ‘A Bit Too Street For Bond’
While rumors sparked earlier this year of Idris Elba playing 007, Horowitz isn’t enthused with the choice.
He said to the Daily Mail, “Idris is a terrific actor, but I can think of other black actors who would do it better. For me Idris Elba is a bit too rough to play the part. It’s not a color issue. I think he is probably a bit too ‘street’ for Bond. Is it a question of being suave? Year.”
Horowitz believes that actor Adrian Lester, an English actor as well from “Hustle” will be a better choice. Although Idris played bad boy roles in “The Wire” and “Takers,” he is also known for his brilliant role in “Mandela,” and comforting role in “Daddy’s Little Girls.”
Idris this year was the first man to ever grace the cover of Maxim magazine.
