Sunday TV: Fear the Walking Dead 'Katrina'

Fear the Walking Dead
AMC, 9 ET/PT

If ever there were a presold hit, it's this Walking Dead prequel set at the start of the zombie apocalypse, before people realized that nothing and no one could save them. The opening is as scary as the original, but offers a different sort of suspense, as neither we nor the characters can be sure whether the guy in the park is a walker, or just walking slowly. One warning though, beyond the obvious one about violence: If you're expecting an explanation for the outbreak of zombieism, you'll be disappointed. One may come — but not yet.
Ballers/The Brink
HBO, 10 ET/PT

These two agreeable HBO comedies — one that could be a tad more amusing, and one that could be a little less silly — come to the conclusion of their seasons. Ballers ends with Spencer considering a new start; The Brink ends with Walter trying to defuse the global crisis.

Katrina: 10 Years After the Storm

ABC, 10 ET/PT

Mississippi native Robin Roberts hosts this news special, which returns to New Orleans and the Gulf Coast to examine the lingering effects of that fatal storm and the way the region has — or hasn't — recovered. Jazz musician Terrence Blanchard, who composed the score, and Harry Connick, Jr. are among the region's natives who appear on the special.
