Pirates ride 9-run 7th to win over Dodgers
Jung Ho Kang's three-run homer capped a nine-run seventh inning and Andrew McCutchen homered and drove in four runs as the Pittsburgh Pirates rallied for a 13-6 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Sunday night.
Kang, the rookie shortstop, greeted Joel Peralta with his ninth homer of the season. Jim Johnson (3-4) was charged with eight runs in two-thirds of an inning.
McCutchen's homer - a shot off the batter's eye in center field - came with a runner on the fifth inning to draw the Pirates within 5-3. He added a two-run single during the big seventh inning that put Pittsburgh on top, 12-5.
McCutchen is hitting .455 with 13 RBIs and 12 runs scored in his last 10 games and .410 with runners in scoring position this season.
Francisco Cervelli had three hits, including a solo homer in the eighth, and three RBIs for the Pirates. Aramis Ramirez and Neil Walker both had two of Pittsburgh's 16 hits.
Blue Jays 2, Yankees 0 - Josh Donaldson and Jose Bautista each hit a long home run, and Toronto earned its eighth straight victory by beating New York at Yankee Stadium to complete a three-game sweep that tightened the AL East race.
Marlins 4, Braves 1 - Brad Hand threw seven strong innings and drove in two runs with sacrifice bunts and visiting Miami ended a six-game losing streak with a victory over Atlanta.
Angels 5, Orioles 4 - David Murphy's bases-loaded single in the 11th inning sent Los Angeles to a victory over visiting Baltimore.
Lefty Brian Matusz came in to face Kole Calhoun and slipped a called third strike past him, but Murphy drove a 3-2 pitch over the head of leftfielder David Lough to end it. Murphy also had a three-run homer in the third inning.
Indians 8, Twins 1 - Corey Kluber pitched a three-hitter for his third complete game of the season, leading host Cleveland past Minnesota. Kluber (7-12) didn't allow a hit until Joe Mauer's two-out single in the seventh.
Rays 4, Mets 3 - Rookie Richie Shaffer hit a tiebreaking homer in the seventh inning and host Tampa Bay once again rallied from an early three-run deficit to beat New York.
Cubs 2, Giants 0 - Jake Arrieta pitched four-hit ball into the eighth inning, and the Chicago Cubs beat the San Francisco Giants 2-0 on Sunday for a four-game sweep of the defending world champions.
Rockies 6, Nationals 4 - DJ LeMahieu hit a tiebreaking two-run single off Drew Storen with two out in the eighth inning, sending visiting Colorado past Washington.
Brewers 5, Cardinals 4 - Khris Davis hit two home runs, including a two-run shot in the eighth inning off recent teammate Jonathan Broxton, as host Milwaukee beat St. Louis.
