Strong winds kick up dangerous dust storm in Phoenix (Photos)

Gusty morning thunderstorms kicked up a dangerous dust storm in the Phoenix area, and officials warned drivers to pull over as visibility dropped to near zero.

Winds gusted to 50 mph in the 9 a.m. hour at Phoenix International Airport, and visibility had dropped to just 1.8 miles. The National Weather Service in Phoenix has issued a dust storm warning, in effect until 11 a.m. Mountain Time.
 

  

The Arizona Department of Transportation is asking drivers to pull off to the side of the road during the reduced visability.
